Cave with 10 metres of passage in the municipality of Josa i Tuixén, with two entrances separated by a large rock pillar.

Characteristics

Location

On the C-563 road from Josa del Cadí to Tuixent, about two kilometres from Josa we will see on the right a pronounced torrent, although quite closed in by vegetation. Going up it, within a few metres we will locate the cavity in the very centre of its bed.

Description

Morphology

Consisting of an upper entrance that leads us by means of a steeply sloping gallery towards an exit of considerable proportions (2X5 metres), after a passage of 10 metres. A large rock pillar in the form of a column separates both entrances, forming an archway.

Hydrology

Near the lower entrance, and on one of its walls, there is a small water inflow that drains towards the torrent.

History

The first exploration was carried out on 30 April 1978 by French speleologists of the C.D.S.= Comité Departamental de Spéléologie - 11 (Aude, Narbona), who catalogued the cavity with the initials S1.

The SIES of Esplugues rediscovered it and surveyed it in August 1995, cataloguing it with the initials J.2.
