Characteristics

Location

Leaving Mura along the path to la Cova de Mura, shortly before reaching the last steps cut into the rock and before the fork to la Cova de Mura, we leave to our right, coming upon the head of a small gully at the top of which is the cave, opened in a sandstone stratum at the level of carbonatic conglomerate.

Description

Morphology

A gallery of seven metres and a little more leads us to the back of the cavity where, on our left and after a small 30 cm rise, a small gallery of two and a half metres opens. The cavity maintains a constant height of one metre and a width of more than one and a half metres. The back of the cavity presents a floor carpeted with loose stones.

Speleothems

With some sample of concretions on the left wall.

Other details

At the entrance it is still possible to find some branches cut with an axe and a small charred stump, proof, once again, of human presence inside the cavity.

History

Cavity discovered on 5 February 2005 by members of SIS – CE Terrassa, and which represented one of the most promising indications that very probably the toponym coves de Mura, long used to describe a single cave, hid the reality of more than one hollow in the area of the torrent del Reixac. In this way the hope was opened of finding another possible cavity in the area where prehistoric man sojourned and whose cemetery was la Cova de Mura.
