Characteristics

Location

At the cingles de l'Abellera, Mont-ral. From Mont-ral we will follow the TV-7045 road towards la Mussara; on reaching kilometre 3, we will turn right towards the ruined mas del Cisterer. From here a path sets off first in an O direction, which soon continues towards the NO, then turns towards the SO and immediately afterwards towards the S; when the path turns again towards the O, we find a turn-off to the right that leads to the collet del Jaume. We will continue climbing up to the Portell de la Cova de la Bruixa; from here we will follow the path that skirts the cingle below the Punta de Moliner as far as the portell d'Abellera. We will go down the grau and at the base we will leave the path that leads to la Foradada, to continue in the opposite direction to the one we came from but now along the base of the cingle, along a faint trail that will bring us to the surgència Poblet spring, and continuing about 10 metres further on we will reach the cova del Be.

Description

Morphology

It is a wide rock shelter of 8x3 metres with a depth of 5.90 metres, from which three small passages emerge, of 5.50 m, 4.04 m and 2.92 metres respectively. The total length is 18.30 metres.

History

The cova del Be was cited as a synonym when reference was made to the Surgència Poblet; the spring is located at the base of the cingle about ten metres before reaching the rock shelter known as cova del Be. We suppose that the proximity of the two gave rise to the confusion.
