Cova de Salallassera

Cova d'uns 20 metres de recorregut a Sant Llorenç Savall.

Sant Llorenç Savall • Vallès Occidental20m0

A cave of about 20 metres of passage in Sant Llorenç Savall, in Eocene conglomerates, with two entrances and short galleries.

Characteristics

Location

Starting from the crossroads of the Pi d'en Guàrdia we will take the path on the left which, descending gently, goes to meet the head of the torrent de Salallassera. Before reaching it we will have left on our left a turnoff that leads to the base of an electricity pylon. Once we have crossed the gully of the torrent we will have to pay attention to our right to find the remains of an old damming pit, next to the path. It is the signal to leave the track on our left and go to find the precipice over the torrent de Salallassera. The area is full of treetops and is almost impassable. We will follow the precipice in a northerly direction, until we find the head of a torrent (today obstructed by branches and fallen trunks) where we will try to descend. At the same head there is the hole and the small rock shelter of Salallassera. Once at the bottom of the torrent, we will follow the base of the cliff on our right. In a few metres we will find the two entrances of the cova de Salallassera, approximately at elevation 702 m.

In 2013, the owners enabled a small path leading there from the torrent de Salallassera; we do not know its current state.

Description

Morphology

Embedded in Eocene conglomerates, the larger entrance allows us to enter the cave upright for some seven metres slightly ascending, at which point the cavity continues some four metres more, but completely impassable. Along this single gallery we find on the left two small orthogonal galleries of a couple of metres each, which can be accessed by crawling.

The other entrance of the cave is a small single gallery that does not reach four metres of passage and in which the floor stands out, filled with large-sized rocks, possibly artificially placed.

In total the cova de Salallassera accounts for about twenty metres of passage.

History

Located by members of the SIS del CE Terrassa after the fire of the year 2003.
