Description
Morphology
It presents a labyrinthine route, with a large number of narrow passages, and is completely filled with boulders of all sizes.
From the entrance towards the western side it offers a set of vertical steps and short galleries until reaching the depth of -19 metres, while in the eastern area the movement is more than vertical, despite this part containing the point of maximum depth relative to the outside.
History
At the end of August 1909, Marià Faura explored the cavity for the first time; it had been discovered a short time before and it was said that two boys from can Busó who worked as shepherds had got lost in it, when they were left inside the cave without light.
The sheep returned to the village without the shepherds and people searched for them unsuccessfully until, after a week, they found them, alive but in very bad condition. It seems that to enter the cave the boys left their clogs at the mouth, and this fact made it possible for them to be found.
Faura was accompanied by the architect Rafael Masó (author of the plans of the cavity) and also by other people from Girona: Joan Vinyes, Ramon Adroher, Albert Figa, Joan Nicolazzi and Joan Terré.
Between 1972 and 1975, the GIS de Girona devoted itself to exploring various cavities in this area, making a new survey of the cavity, although in the end they only published the polygonal line of the cave.
Bio
During the exploration they collected various insects, notably a new species identified by Jeannel: Speonomus faurai.
