Characteristics

Location

From the Coll de Boix, we head towards the Puigdoure farmhouse, about 40 minutes. The cave is on the left hydrographic side and in the upper part of the torrent de la Rebolleda, a tributary of the torrent del Roure Llarg.

The cova de La Rebolleda is located on the same cliff face as the cova del Duc, one bend further on. Besides finding some small abalmaments at the same level we come from, above them we find three possible crevices or channels where the cave could be located. The one furthest to the left is where the cova de la Rebolleda is. You will need the help of a couple of savines to climb up to the small entrance mouth.

Description

Morphology

Curiously the cave is not located in the very centre of the channel, but on the side we climb up. The mouth is small and rounded (75 cm at the base by 70 cm high); it is a forced passage that at 4.5 metres bifurcates to the right and left forming a T. Both branches are about 3 metres long each, and become impassable.

The ceiling in these galleries shows the orthogonal joint of a couple of metres in height, although too narrow to be able to stand up.

Speleothems

In these two sections the flowstone is notable, reminiscent of a projected expanded polyurethane. They even sound hollow.

History

Explored by members of SIS – CET in 2003. They found this small cave thanks to the directions of Miquel Garcia and Eduard Torras, when they were talking about caves (in plural) near some ruins. Once they had located and visited the cova del Duc, they decided to take a more detailed look at the area. They named the cavity with the only place name provided by the CET map, and which has allowed speculation about the origin of the nearby ruins.
