Cova de la Cabra

Cova de la Cabra

Petita cova de 12 metres de recorregut a Gelida.

Gelida • Alt Penedès12m0

Small cave with a 12-metre passage in Gelida, located about 60 metres downstream of the Esquerda del Torrent de Sant Miquel or Forat del Vent.

Characteristics

Location

The cavity is located about 60 metres downstream of the Esquerda del Torrent de Sant Miquel or Forat del Vent.

It can be reached from Corbera de Llobregat via the BV-2425 road and turning off onto the Coll d'Oller track, on the path that skirts the Vall del Torrent de Sant Miquel; this path can also be reached from various points in Gelida, in the area near the castle.

This area of the Torrent de Sant Miquel valley was first declared as a (LI) in 1997, later in 2005 as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA), and was subsequently enlarged as a Natura 2000 site through Government Agreement 112/2006 of 5 September, which approved the Natura 2000 network in Catalonia.

From then on a network of signposted paths was created, passing through the rocky area where the Esquerda del Torrent de Sant Miquel is found, which they came to call the Forat del Vent.

Access is currently restricted all year round on the path that runs along the bottom of the torrent, and access is also restricted between the months of January and June on the path leading to the Esquerda del Torrent de Sant Miquel. To reach it during the authorised periods, follow the Forat del Vent signs.
