Characteristics

Location

Located in Santa Perpètua de Gaià, we follow the track in a NW direction, crossing the Gaià by the paved ford, we follow the Gaià upstream along the hydrographic right bank, soon we find a gate and a somewhat damaged PVC mesh blocking the way, and signs indicating that it is a private property. The rock shelter is about 50 metres further on, just before reaching a new mesh, but this time a metal one, which closes off access to the molí del Soler.

Morphology

It is a rock shelter with a large porch and little else. A few metres further on, right next to the fence, there is a small concavity no more than a couple of metres in size.

Inside we find a 1.2-metre upward step followed by an upward ramp that places us at +3 metres; the total passage is 7.5 metres.

The rock shelter is used to store boxes and vegetable-garden tools from the plot in front of the rock shelter.

History

Known since olden times. In February 1978, members of the SIE-CEA make a quick visit, writing a brief note that would be included in the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya. Vol. 2 (1978).
