Characteristics

Location

From the football pitch in Torroella, take the old path of les Dunes and follow it for about 800 metres until reaching a fork to the left that leads to some small country houses. From here you must climb about 50 metres of elevation gain in the direction of the Montplà until the foot of a small cliff, where the very well hidden cavity is found.

Description

Morphology

An entrance of good dimensions and very well hidden by the vegetation. The cave is reduced to little more than the vestibule that remains of a former gallery that appears to have collapsed.

Other details

No survey is available.

History

Known since ancient times. Cited in the old catalogues (Puig y Larraz, 1896; Font, 1897; Faura, 1909). It served as a refuge during the war of 1936. L. Pericot and M. Pallarès recognised it during the 1920's but gave up in the face of the presence of blocks that hindered the archaeological excavation work.
