Characteristics

Location

Access is from Berga via the local road BV-4243. On reaching the coll del Sant Crist, at the Rasos de Peguera ski resort, we continue towards Peguera; we soon reach the collet de Catllarí, where we leave the vehicle. From here we continue through the forest in direction N28E for 200 metres, where we find a water pool about 15 metres in diameter; from the pool we continue in the same direction we had been following for another 200 metres, at which point we reach the depression.

Description

Morphology

It is a large doline-like depression with a marked collapse morphology, 105 metres in a WNW-ESE direction by 75 metres in an ENE-WSW direction, with a slope towards the central point, occupied by blocks of all sizes. There is a vertical drop of 15 metres on the WNW side, unique in the whole depression, since except at this point the rest of the funnel is formed by slopes of 33º and 67 metres (WNW), and 45º and 38 metres in length (ENE), down to its centre, which is located at -28 metres of elevation difference.

History

The first reference we know of this cavity is provided by J. Ullastre and A. Masriera (GES-CMB) in 1978.
