Characteristics

Location

We will follow the BV-4025 road from Fígols to Fumanya; once past the Creu de Fumanya, we will ignore all the turnings to the left, in order to turn off to the right along the path from Fumanya to the Font del Pi. Almost at the end of a steep slope of the track and beside an electricity pylon, there is a gully that climbs up the S slope of the serra d'Ensija; it must be followed up until a rocky outcrop is found on the right, where the cavity is located. Near it there are some signposts for the refugi d'Ensija. Approximate coordinates with little precision.

Description

Morphology

Through a small entrance, irregular in shape, it is possible to enter the single shaft of the cavity of 11 metres of vertical drop; its floor is occupied by a small cone of rubble and small quantities of chough guano.

History

Faura i Sans, in his Recull (1909) mentions the Bòfia de les Costes de Peguera without giving any further data.

In July 1980, members of the SIE - CEA find, near the Grallera de Catllarí, a shepherd who indicates to them, from a distance, the area he knows as Costes de Peguera and indeed there is a grallera. With the indications received they are able to locate it in September of the same year and a few weeks later they proceed to its first exploration.

We will never know whether it is the same cavity referenced by Faura, but we think the probabilities are quite high.
