Characteristics

Location

On the BV-4243 road that climbs from Castellar del Riu to the Rasos de Peguera, at kilometre 12.9, 250 metres before reaching the Coll del Sant Crist, on the right of the road a track closed to vehicles starts and in 2.1 kilometres will take us to the Collada dels Rasets, where there is a pool of water for much of the year.

From the Collada dels Rasets we will follow the track uphill towards the S, in the direction of the Torreta dels Enginyers (antenna installation) for 100 metres, we will turn off 18 metres to the left where we will find the Avenc dels Quatre; from this we will head in direction E10N for 42 metres where we will find the depression where, in the western part of it, are the Avenc del Campament or del Cim d'Estela and, in the eastern part, the avenc de les Pedres or R.1B de Rasets.

Description

Morphology

A 15 metre shaft leaves us in a 1 metre wide and about 8 metre long fissure. Going down the ramp we reach the maximum depth of -17 metres.

History

On 14 and 15 August 1964 five members of the ERE of the AEC (Tomàs Deu, Miquel Pagès, Jordi Agustí, Salvador Pijoan and Joan Armendàriz) head for the Forat d'Estela, but they make a mistake and pass by the Roca d'Auró where the cavity is located and end up at the Rasets; here they find a first cavity which they name “Cim d'Estela” even though this peak is quite far from the place in question.

The cavity was obstructed after a few metres, and while they try to clear it one of them went for a walk around the area and returned saying that he had found another cavity; they leave the clearing and explore this new cavity which they name Avenc Fred and which is none other than the Bòfia de Rasets.

On 25 and 26 May 1969 the SIRE-UEC de Sants carries out a prospection in the Rasets area and locates various cavities; they return on 22 to 24 June of the same year, setting up a camp next to a cavity which, unlike the other nearby cavities, had no name painted at its entrance; they named it “Avenc del Campament” and proceeded to clear it; coincidentally it was the same cavity that the ERE of the AEC had tried to clear years before and had named “Avenc Cim d'Estela”.

The ERE of the AEC returns in July 1970, when among others they explore and survey the cavity, which had been cleared the previous year by the SIRE-UEC Sants.

In 2005 members of GE Badalona explore and survey again various cavities in the Rasets area; to complicate things further, they rename all the cavities with the initials “R”; in this case the name they assign to it is “R.1A de Rasets”.
