Location

From the BV-1221 road from Terrassa to the Coll d'Estenalles, on reaching kilometre 12.35 at the Xiprers parking area, take the path that climbs to the Coll de Garganta; shortly before reaching it, turn left to follow the path heading to the Morral del Llop. After passing the small trail that leads to the cova Estrella, continue for about 350 metres until leaving the forest, and climb along the path through a rocky area, approaching the cliff face; at this point a small trail on the right leads to the rock shelter within a few metres.

Description

Morphology

A rock shelter 14 metres wide containing two parallel galleries, one four metres deep and the other 7.45 metres deep.

Hydrology

In the first gallery, at certain times of year, there is a small pool of water.

History

Known since ancient times and used as a refuge.

In the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya vol.5 (2016) by Jordi de Valles, it is cited as if it were two cavities: the Balma número 1 del Gat Mesquer and the Balma número 2 del Gat Mesquer, when in reality it consists of two conduits located within the same rock shelter.
