Characteristics

Location

You leave Peramola along the Cortiuda road. Past the font de les Cerquetes, a track branches off to the right, sometimes in very poor condition, which climbs up to the coll de Quatre Camins. Before arriving you must keep a lookout, on the left, to be able to make out the phallic-shaped needle. The cavity lies behind it.

Description

Morphology

Curious rock shelter 18 m deep by 25 m wide and about 6 m high at its highest part.

The hole actually passes through the rock, but without knowing the specific parameters that separate what can be considered a natural bridge or a rock shelter, it was preferred to give it the latter designation.

The cavity is excavated on a horizontal stratum of sandstone and mudstones intercalated within the conglomerate. The jointing of the conglomerate has conditioned the shape of the rock shelter's roof.

History

In early February 2017 the authors of the record met, at Cambrils (Odèn-Solsonès), with Jordi Lloret. He, who over the years had been documenting rock bridges, arches or natural bridges, told them that he had news of one of these natural phenomena existing at the Roca del Corb (Peramola-Alt Urgell), more specifically below the rock shelter of la Casa del Corb and very close to a conglomerate needle of phallic shape. The next day, being familiar with the spot he mentioned, they went to the area and carried out the cataloguing work.

As for the name, it should be said that some climbers know it as Agulla del Burí, but in the area it is called el Cigalot del Corb. It seems there is an old legend which explains that as a punishment for the excessive lust of a giant who lived in these parts his penis was petrified.
