Characteristics

Location

At the foot of the lower cliff on the south face of the Roca del Corb. Follow the track to Cortiuda. Shortly before reaching the house of Torrent, and just before crossing a stream, a path leaves to the right and soon forks. Again to the right and climbing, one reaches a small esplanade. Here begins a small path that runs parallel to the mountain cliff. On reaching the first torrent, one must go up it, first along the left bank and then along the right, until reaching the foot of the cliff. The cavity is clearly visible.

Description

Morphology

A sloping ramp full of vegetation gives access to the cavity. The final stretch of the ramp is steeper and gives way to a gallery just over 15 metres long, with the floor covered in small and medium plunge pools.

At the back a narrow ascending passage can be seen. Also, in a small chamber on the left on entering, a small flowstone can be seen.

The whole ceiling is followed by a fissure due to a joint that continues along the cliff wall outside. Almost at the back of the cavity, in the ceiling, there is a narrow hole that allows one to advance about 3 metres, after which it becomes impracticable.

Speleothems

At the back a narrow ascending passage can be seen that has formed a small lithogenic formation. Also, in a small chamber on the left on entering, a small flowstone can be seen.

Hydrology

Halfway up the ramp there is a spring where there is generally always water.

Progression

A sloping ramp full of vegetation gives access to the cavity. The final stretch of the ramp is steeper and gives way to a gallery. Almost at the back of the cavity, in the ceiling, there is a narrow hole that allows one to advance about 3 metres, after which it becomes impracticable.

History

Known since time immemorial and given its conditions, it cannot be ruled out that it was occupied in remote times.

The existence of the spring meant that the inhabitants of la Casa del Corb, situated at the top of the cliff, made use of the water.
