Description
Morphology
This rock shelter has dimensions of about 20 metres deep by about 25 metres wide. This made it possible to differentiate several rooms that can still be seen today. Notable are the corral and the manger at the entrance and the oven located in the area that must have been the kitchen. In what were the bedrooms, some receptacles used as small cupboards can still be seen, as well as shelves and poles wedged between the stones of the walls, in order to hang things. It should be noted that the wall that closes off the rock shelter does not reach the ceiling. In this way the smoke from the fire that was made for cooking and warming up could escape. This did not prevent, however, the walls and ceiling from being blackened.
Hydrology
They took water from the drips from the ceiling, in rainy periods, or from a nearby spring located a few metres below the entrance.
History
Known since time immemorial and mentioned in various works and monographs about the region and of historical speciality.
La Casa del Corb is one of the many worked rock shelters that exist in Catalonia. Some were only used to pen livestock, but others, like this one in question, are true dwellings. It is known that la Casa del Corb was inhabited until the 1920s, but it seems that the first guests date back to the Neolithic.
