Semi-closed rock shelter in Sant Llorenç del Munt, about 20 metres wide on the outside, with a high interior and lithogenic formations.

Characteristics

Location

To the E of the Canal del Bosc. From Can Pèlags one must climb up the Canal del Pi Tort; just when it begins to gain height we will see some cliffs on our left. At their end stands out the rock called “El Bec”. Reaching below the rock is easy by following beneath this cliff, but by changing slope, that is, along the Canal del Bosc side, we will soon come upon the rock shelter. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

Rock shelter about 20 metres wide on the outside. The entrance is quite low, except at the N end, where we can walk upright. Once inside we observe that the interior of the rock shelter is quite high, between 5 and 7 metres. This curious cavity is structured parallel to the cliff, having opened to the outside thanks to a narrow stratum of sandstones located at its base.

Speleothems

On the same side we entered one can also climb up a short passage, all of it covered with lithogenic formations.

History

The first speleological reference we know of is that of the visit by members of the GES – CMB in December 1965, and they include it in their catalogue (1974). In February 1987 members of the SIS – CET made the only survey we know of.
