A rock shelter with a waterfall in Santa Maria de Merlès, in the Berguedà, 45 m long, 4 m deep and 3 m high.

Characteristics

Location

We will set out from the village of Santa Maria de Merlès along the BV-4406 road; when we reach kilometre 13.6 we will turn left onto a forest track. After 650 m we will come to a small stream, which we will follow upstream, and immediately afterwards we will find the rock shelter in the middle of the torrent bed.

Description

Morphology

The cavity measures 45 m long by 4 m deep and 3 m high. Above this rock shelter, another, much smaller rock shelter is formed.

Hydrology

This is a rock shelter through which the waters of a stream plunge, the stream conducting them from the upper side.

Other details

The rock shelter is partially covered with vegetation.
