Characteristics

Location

We will leave the village of Prats de Lluçanès and take the BV-4401 road towards Navàs; when we reach kilometre point 18.8 we will leave the car on the right in a widening, take a small path that leaves from the left of the road and goes down parallel to a torrent, follow it for about 50 m and soon find the rock shelter beneath a waterfall of the stream.

Description

Morphology

The rock shelter measures 37 m in length, 5 m in depth and 3.2 m in height.

Speleothems

A few metres from the fountain, following the semicircle formed by the rock shelter that follows the plunge pool, there are several points where water seeps out, creating formations of whimsical shapes.

Hydrology

The fountain consists of a modern structure of rendered masonry attached to the rock shelter, inside which is the tank that collects the water that springs from the fountain. Water should spring from the side of the structure, but some defect in the piping causes the water to seep beneath the structure.

Other details

The surroundings of the fountain, occupied by the plunge pool followed by the rock shelter, consist of diverse vegetation, mixing woodland and riverside environments.

History

Fountain and rock shelter long well known in the area.
