Description
Morphology
Formed by a 19.72 shaft with two ledges, at -12 and at -17 metres, at which point we connect with the roof of the main gallery 3 to 4 metres high and about 10 metres wide on average and 22 metres long until it exits to the open sea. Located again at the base of the shaft, one passes along some ledges above the water and reaches a narrow passage, which gives access to a small chamber with openings towards the water; this stretch is 10 metres long. Before the narrow passage and in the roof, there is a chamber hanging at about 13 metres height.
Hydrology
The maximum depth of the water inside the cave was 2.4 metres on the day the survey was made. A cavity where the interrelationship between karstification and marine abrasion is clearly seen, which is not clear in most caves located between Cala de la Móra and Tamarit. Very close, to the W, is a small spring known as la Fonteta and located at Cala Dolça!. It seems plausible to think that most of the flow emerges below sea level.
Progression
At the beginning of the 2000s the entrance was sealed with concrete. Someone has dug underneath and it seems accessible. It is also possible to enter through a crack above it, although with difficulty due to the narrowness and the sharp edges of the rock.
History
We have news of a first exploration carried out by members of the GES – CMB in September 1951, which remained practically unpublished. The first specific reference to this cavity appears in 1978 in the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya with data provided by R. Sala and J. Garcia, also of the GES – CMB, who explored and surveyed it on 3 August 1977. In the spring of 2008, members of the GE Badalona (who had already visited it in the summer of 1991), found that the entrance of the pit had been covered with concrete, expressing their protest and complaint from the pages of Espeleobloc. Nevertheless a complaint was filed with Medi Ambient de Tarragona, but they declined to act.
Bio
Miniopterus schreibersii (important colony disappeared since the sealing of the entrance of the pit).
