Location

From the Terranyes refuge (Mas del Torrero) take the path that climbs along the ridge to the Tossa Blanca (Punta Blanca according to the ICC). Once the flatter area of Terranyes is left behind, a hill with a pond (elevation 1181) is climbed, and below it lies the cavity.

Description

Morphology

A small entrance that, after a short drop, connects with a pit of almost 20 metres of vertical drop, landing in a room of notable dimensions, with a sloping floor covered in debris. The room can be ascended up to elevation -7.7 relative to the entrance, where a perpendicular gallery closes off the cavity in this upper zone. The point of maximum depth is entirely occupied by blocks of clastic origin.

Progression

From the base of the pit one can continue down the slope and, after a drop and a very steep pit, reach the point of maximum depth.

History

Discovered and explored in 1965 by a team from the Agrupació Científico-Excursionista de Mataró, which attributed a depth of between 45 and 50 metres to it, without giving a very precise location of its whereabouts. It was not until 1978 that members of SIRE – Tortosa rediscovered it, producing a more accurate survey.
