Characteristics

Location

Leaving Pradip in the direction of Santa Marina, we will turn right onto the road heading towards the coll del Guix and Colldejou. After travelling 3,815 metres we will turn right onto a track that after 225 metres ends at a house. About fifty metres before reaching the house we find a padlock blocking our way; the house is currently (2019) inhabited. To the right of the padlock we find a track that also has a padlock; we will follow this path which, after 155 metres, will bring us to a field cultivated with olive trees; we will continue straight on through the field until we find a small stone hut; from here we will continue to the left, following the boundary of the field with the forest for 150 metres; at this point, on the other side of the field, we see a ruined hut; on our right a path begins right next to two large pines (ETRS89 coordinates 323193-4548843). We soon find a small path on the left which, within a few metres, will bring us to a large flat rock that serves as a viewpoint over the Rasa del Mas de l'Estanquer; on the right-hand part of this rock there is a small water hollow built with dry stone. From this flat rock, we will follow the path on the left; we will soon pass in front of a small dry-stone hut situated on the left, inside which there are a couple of cart wheels and a damaged rototiller. A little further on we see a small path that descends on the right, overcoming the small abandoned almond terraces; on reaching the fourth terrace we will continue to the right and about 20 metres further on we will descend to the one below, which we will follow to the end; from here we must follow a faint path for 50 metres more and on a gentle climb, where we will find the cavity about 3 metres to the right of the path.

Description

Morphology

The entrance is circular in shape and a first 6-metre shaft places us on a ledge into which sunlight enters. It continues into a fan of scree with a steep incline towards the S. This descent leads us, along its right-hand side, to a small chamber from which emerges a very narrow gallery oriented S, which was followed for about 17 metres. It describes several meanders until reaching a fork. The gallery, owing to its low height and a block covered with concretions, is almost totally obstructed. The other gallery that emerges from the fork is perpendicular to the previous one, running about 7 metres until progress is impossible because of its narrowness. Back at the base of the entrance shaft, it continues through a sloping passage and after an 11-metre shaft with a circular base that gives, on one side, onto another 7-metre shaft, where the cavity ends.
