Avenc del Ramon de la Fonda

Ínfim avenc de poc més de 4 m. de fondària a Castellar del Vallès.

Castellar del Vallès • Vallès Occidental8m4m

A tiny pit just over 4 m deep in Castellar del Vallès, discovered on 9 March 2007 by two members of the SIS – CE Terrassa.

Characteristics

Location

The avenc del Ramon de la Fonda opens on the right hydrographic slope of the headwaters of the same torrent where the font de l'Enric de la Fonda is found and, further down, the basses del Barceló and the font del Carner.

To reach it we can start from the track that leaves to the right of the Castellar-Sant Llorenç Savall B-124 road, shortly before kilometre 16. The track passes beside the balma de l'Aiguader and crosses the Ripoll. Within a few metres the blue markers of the new route along the Ripoll river join us. We will count five gullies and their respective ridge spurs. We will find the blue cave marker painted on a pine. This will be the moment to leave by our left and take the crest of the ridge. Shortly before reaching the foot of the crag, we will skirt it on our right, crossing a boulder field. The avenc del Ramon de la Fonda is about ten metres into the wood, approximately perpendicular to the summit of the small hill with elevation 505.

Description

Morphology

With an earthy mouth of 1.2 x 1.6 m, the pit reaches a maximum depth of 4.5 vertical metres, a distance scarcely exceeded by a false aladern that puts out its young crown from inside the hollow. The joint, with direction N30, reaches three metres in length, with walls whose reddish levels suggest a possible stratigraphic discontinuity on either side.

Other details

At the northern end there hangs, like a small shrine, a nest made of moss.

History

Discovered on 9 March 2007 by two members of the SIS – CE Terrassa as they were coming down from the escletxa del turó del Castelló.
