Location

In the serra del Cairat, near the coll de Cassot, in Esparreguera.

From the Avenc Montserrat (Cova Fuillerat) one must follow the small path that ran between some abandoned terraced fields, until reaching a point where these end, beginning a steep slope of the mountain that faces the Llobregat side; on the left side of the last terrace is the mouth of the pit.

Approximate coordinates and very difficult location due to the exuberant vegetation that covers the whole area.

The topography section includes a map prepared by Xavier Badiella on which most of the cavities of the area are located and which can help in its location.

Description

Morphology

A small 3-metre pit gives access to a corridor 8 metres long that ends in a 2-metre drop. At the start of this corridor, through a narrow passage, one can reach a low-ceilinged chamber that leads into another gallery coming from the entrance corridor.

Progression

From here few metres remain to reach the end of the cavity, since only a couple of metres remain to the left, through a crawlway that is intercepted by another fissure that cuts off any possible continuation.

History

Cavity located and explored by members of the SIS del CET in January 1985; they catalogued it as Avenc del Fum erroneously, thinking that it was the same cavity explored by the SIRE d'Olesa de Montserrat in the year 1965, when in reality it was an unpublished cavity.
