Small pit in the Toscar area (Alfara de Carles), undocumented, located and explored by Joan Ramírez (CE Dinàmics, la Ràpita) in May 2019. Cave under exploration, no survey.

Location

From Alfara de Carles you must go to the hamlet of Toscar and from there reach the coll del Xiprer. From this point you must follow in a S direction along a half-lost path, rugged in places due to some scree, until reaching the junction with the sender de les Gúbies, coming from Mas d'Atans. Following it, in a S direction, you reach the Clot de la Francesca and on its eastern side rises a small crest and on the other side some small caves that can be accessed by downclimbing. About 20 m away is the fissure where the pit is found.

Due to a GPS reception error, the coordinates correspond to the point where the small caves are.

Description

Morphology

A first chamber of about 10 m2. Through a passage you can access on your knees up to two other small chambers (possible continuation). On the other side of the joint there is a long, very narrow opening, where so far it has not been possible to pass. No survey is available, so we do not know the exact dimensions of the cave.

Speleothems

There are no notable formations, only a small flowstone.

Progression

A first 5 m rappel inside the outer fissure allows you to reach the mouth of the pit. With the same rigging you enter the pit, descending about 4 m to reach a first chamber of about 10 m2. There are two “parabolts” to access the pit.
