Avenc del Cataclisme

Small pit above les Aumidielles (Benifallet), with a semicircular entrance of 1.2 x 0.90 metres, a chamber of 8 x 9 metres and 1.5 metres in height. Discovered and explored by GIE – CE Gràcia in July 1969.

Location

Above the entrance of the cova de l'Aumidiella Gran is the summit of the cingle from which a path emerges that skirts it. It is taken in the direction facing the Ebre and, reaching a sudden ledge formed by the cingle, we find the entrance, oriented toward the precipice. It is difficult to locate. Approximate coordinates of low precision.

Description

Morphology

A small semicircular entrance of 1.2 x 0.90 metres gives way to a chamber of 8 x 9 metres and a height of 1.5 metres. The entire floor is a chaos of blocks, and at one of the ends, a narrow crawlway, an extension of the chamber, leads to the impenetrable entrance of the cavity, already in the midst of the precipice.

History

Discovered and explored by members of GIE – CE Gràcia in July 1969. It remained unpublished until around 1980, when members of the Espeleo Club de Gràcia relocated it and, according to their account, found that the passage leading to the lower pits was obstructed by blocks.
