Description
Morphology
The pit is like a large funnel of great dimensions (25 x 8 m), with vertical walls on the E and W sides determined by the joint that originated it. At the N and S ends you can descend by respective quite steep ramps, more so however on the N side.
Progression
At the N and S ends you can descend by respective quite steep ramps, more so however on the N side.
Other details
The walls are covered almost entirely by leafy ivy that climbs seeking the outside light. The exuberant vegetation that occupies almost the whole large hollow makes visiting it difficult.
History
Known by Mr. Rosendo Boixader, former tenant farmer of the Mata, who commented on them to his son Joan Boixader and to colleagues of the GES – CMT and of the SIS – CET, who located and explored it on 16 February 1975, after an important clearing of vegetation to be able to access its interior.
