Characteristics

Location

Following the path that goes from Can Puigmoltó to coll Sostrell, shortly before the turn-off towards the avenc de Puigmoltó, one finds the head of a stream bed parallel to that of the avenc de Sant Roc. Going down it, just when the gradient begins to become steeper, the cavity is found a few metres above the left slope.

Description

Morphology

A narrow entrance that leads to a single 13-metre pit. Oval floor plan of 4 x 2 metres occupied by medium-sized blocks that litter the cavity.

Cavity structured along a N30E – S30O joint, parallel to the torrent. The losses of this torrent gave rise to two independent cavities that were later joined laterally. The entrance has been opened by epigean degradation.

Speleothems

Intense lithogenic process.

History

The first exploration was carried out by Rafael Amat i Carreras and his team on 9 March 1924. A very rarely visited cavity, which has given rise to confusion regarding its name.
