A 31-metre-deep pit in Pratdip, located at the Solana de Ca la Torre, on the lower part of the S slope of the Puig del Marquès.

Characteristics

Location

Located at the Solana de Ca la Torre, on the lower part of the S slope of the Puig del Marquès.

The most feasible route is from the T-310 road from Mont-roig del Camp to Pratdip, via the access to the les Planes del Rei urbanisation, which is at kilometre 24.25.

Eighty metres before reaching the first houses, and at the junction of the avenue de Pratdip with the carrer de la Magnòlia, we will turn 180 degrees to the right onto an uphill asphalted track which, when it reaches the flat area, must be followed along the main track where the asphalted section soon ends. From the point where we made the 180-degree turn, we will travel 450 metres where we will find a fork that we will follow to the right, at 750 metres from the start we will find a new fork that we will follow to the left, after a few metres both tracks meet again, but the one on the right is in very bad condition. At 960 metres from the start we will find a new fork that we will follow to the left, at 1,230 metres from the start a new fork that we will follow to the right and at 1,730 metres from the start we will leave the vehicle to continue on the left along a very damaged track, we will follow this until it ends, by which point we will have travelled 2,420 metres from the start. At this point we will approach the slope of the ravine from where the mouth of the pit can be seen right next to the cliff on the opposite slope of the ravine. We will look for the best way down to the bed of the ravine and, once at the bottom of the ravine, we will climb the opposite slope in the direction of the cliff where we will find the cavity.

To drive along the track a four-wheel-drive vehicle is advisable.

Description

Morphology

A long fissure full of vegetation gives access through the highest part of the fissure to a 13-metre shaft, followed by a further 6-metre drop that leaves us at the start of a short ramp that leads us to a further 3-metre drop, followed by a new ramp and another drop of just over one metre, a new ramp leads us to the lowest point of the cavity, here an ascending ramp begins that ends in a chaos of large blocks, shortly before reaching the end of this ascending ramp, we find on the ground a small pit of just over one metre that forms a small chamber among the blocks.

Once at the base of the entrance shaft, we find a gallery that, following the fissure in an easterly direction, leads us through a narrow passage between blocks and vegetation to the outside, on the cliffy part of the ravine.

Progression

The cavity was rigged with 2 fixed 8mm parabolt anchors at the head and 2 multimontis at the shafts, which have been removed.

History

Explored by the SIE – CE Àliga in November 1972. A survey was made but it was never drawn up and was lost.

Some 30 years later, our friend Floren Fadrique (SIE – CEA), on one of his biospeleological research outings, was able to locate it and visit it, providing fairly approximate location data.

In October 2019 members of the SIE of the CEA and of the ERE of the CEC located and surveyed it.
