Description
Morphology
The mouth forms a portal 2 metres wide by 1.5 metres high. From outside, we can observe a chamber about 6 metres long by 4 wide. It is funnel-shaped, but on the left side a ledge can be traversed, not without danger. On the west side of this peculiar vestibule, at the bottom of the aforementioned funnel, appears the only vertical drop in the cavity, which does not exceed 12 metres. The headwall, however, has a few drawbacks: a couple of large rocks overhang facing the bottom of the pit, one on the N lip of the shaft, where it will hinder our exploration, more on the ascent than on the descent. Another rock is suspended in balance between two walls of the vertical drop; it seems entirely secure, but it always inspires respect to have a rock of several tonnes above your head. At the base of the shaft we find a fairly spacious chamber, up to 10 metres long by 4 wide; the floor slopes slightly towards the S.
Speleothems
The sight of this area is quite spectacular, with the light entering through the mouth and the greenish colouration taken on by the walls and ceiling as well as the stalagmites found on the deeper side of this corner. We will highlight on the west wall a stalagmitic flowstone that covers the entire height of this chamber, and from the ceiling protrudes a set of stalactites worthy of admiration. We also find some flowstone on the S wall, where on its highest part it forms a kind of niche covered in concretions.
History
In the Guia monogràfica de Sant Llorenç del Munt, published in 1935 by the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa, mention is made of the Avenc de la Coma d'en Vila without any further details. Apparently, it seems they were referring to what years later we would know as Avenc del Llest, and it was then decided to rename with that name another pit that had long been known as Avenc dels Confits. Lately there are people who call it Avenc de la Coma d'Adei.
We do not know who made the first exploration or when. The oldest reference we know of a visit to the cavity is that of members of the GES – CMB in January 1954.
