Caratteristiche

Località

At Km.2 of the BP-2126 road is the urban nucleus of les Cases Noves, in the municipality of Font-Rubí. From there a paved track climbs up to the historic nucleus of Font-Rubí. About 130 m before reaching it, one must take the dirt track heading to el Bolet and follow it for about 2.25 Km along the main track; at this point the ruins of Mas de la Cova will be visible beside the right-hand edge of the track. The caves are located inside the ruins, on their lower level.

Descrizione

Morfologia

A set of 2 small caves with the peculiarity that above them a two-level farmhouse was built that encompasses them; on the lower level one enters the group of caves (currently the farmhouse is in ruins).

Mas de la Cova number 1 is the larger one and its original entrance has decreased considerably in height as it has become largely blocked by fallen remains of the old farmhouse. It has a length of 7 metres and a vertical drop of -1.5 metres.

Mas de la Cova number 2 is considerably smaller than the main one and today still preserves a ruined closing wall, as well as the small access from the farmhouse. It has a length of 3 metres.

Progressione

Mas de la Cova number 1 is entered by descending a ramp of debris until reaching a habitable chamber in which there are currently some old tyres and a small archaeological test pit.
