Caratteristiche

Località

At km 7.98 of the BV-2111 road (Sant Pere de Ribes – Olivella), a track leaves to the left and runs parallel to the Begues stream until it crosses it. Continue on foot to some vineyards, at the S end of which the small caves can be seen, at the base of a rocky outcrop.

From the small caves, continue along the path to the electricity pylon located further up and then pass over a small cliff — the cave lies below — until you find a comfortable place to access la Cova de Roca Rubí.

Descrizione

Morfologia

la Cova de Roca Rubí: an entrance 6 x 2.5 metres through which one enters a single chamber about 7 metres long, whose height decreases as one advances until it closes. Scarce sediment.

les Covetes de Roca Rubí: a group of small hollows of tiny dimensions. The longest is a narrow passage about 5 metres long and slightly ascending.

Storia

Probably known since ancient times. The first references are provided by Josep Castell (ERE – CEC), who with his team visited and surveyed them in August 1984.

It seems that around the 1980s an archaeological survey was carried out in which some human remains and small fragments of pottery appeared, so it could be a cave of a funerary type.
