Cova Mingola

The cave is located in the Serra de Godall, in the Montsià. It is reached from the neighbourhood of les Ventalles, in Ulldecona: go up the street that climbs in front of the church of Sant Joan Baptista, which ends in front of an old corral and a water well. On the left and uphill a path sets out that must be followed up to the top of a small col, on the ridge of the serreta de les Cantarelles, separated by a small valley, parallel to the Serra de Godall itself. The path turns right and continues along the ridge on the western side of the serreta until it ends at a crossing of paths at the bottom of the small valley: straight ahead towards the NE the way would lead to the Povets-Llibreres, with many well-tended estates of olive and carob trees; behind, the area of les Palometes; to the left, a path climbs up towards the Mola. A small, little-marked trail is taken that climbs diagonally up to an old abandoned corral, attached to a small rock shelter, which hides the cova Mingola, or de Mançanera, already within the municipal term of Freginals. One must enter the old corral and, behind some fig trees, the mouth of the shelter is found.
