Caratteristiche

Località

From the Vilanova del Camí sports centre, leave the cemetery path, which is very close, to the right, signposted with the PR marks, and follow the dirt track suitable for all kinds of vehicles; you pass by the side of cal Llorenç and above the road, then to the right you leave the farmhouse of can Titó and further on a private path; at the next fork you must go to the right, leaving the track ahead that climbs towards a group of houses and a water tank.

Following the track we reach can Bernades where there is a crossroads; we now follow the track with the PR signs indicating the Esgavellats and the Moletons; when at the next signpost you must leave the vehicle and continue on foot along the path with the yellow and white PR marks that climbs towards the hill of l'Aromir. After 15 minutes of steep ascent we find a small path on the left with blue marks that lead to the cave, which is about 3 minutes away.

After 15 minutes of steep ascent we find a small path on the left with blue marks that lead to the cave, which is about 3 minutes away.

Altri dettagli

It is not at all hard to imagine that 80 years ago, with the paths not at all worn or marked, this place in the middle of the woods would have become an ideal enough place for someone, in this case mossèn Jaume, to be able to remain hidden.

Storia

This cave served as a hiding place during the Civil War for mossèn Jaume. According to popular stories, the priest was staying at the farmhouse of can Bernades to escape from the republicans and when there were searches, he would leave for the cave where he was hidden for as long as necessary.
