Caratteristiche

Località

The serradell de Montaner is like a spur jutting out perpendicularly from the main mountain range that bounds the valley on the right, lying practically above the village of Alinyà. To reach it we take the track that leaves from the last bend of the road before reaching l'Alzina and follow it for about four kilometres until we come to the first col, which is the coll de la Nou, where we will leave the vehicle. This track continues towards Fígols. From the col we will enter Montaner following the highest ridge; after about twenty minutes of walking we link up with the cliff that faces the sunny side and the Alinyà slope; at this point we will find a major collapse, on whose left-hand side we have the main entrance of the cavity.

GPS readings taken before 2 May 2000 may present some margins of error.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity is structured in different extensional fractures, caused by the proximity of the cliff. The cavity has been subjected to intense clastic processes.

Concrezioni

An old reconstruction process in the sector of the Mitja Lluna shaft is in a phase of decalcification.

Progressione

Following the most obvious route, as soon as we enter we come across a drop that can be handled without equipment, always seeking the most favourable points. All possible continuations end in an accumulation of blocks.

If instead of looking downwards we continue without losing height, we will find the Mitja Lluna shaft, which can be free-climbed down at one end, and if we still continue in the same direction, we will come out right at the cliff edge through the second entrance of the cave.
