Località

Beneath one of the waterfalls of the Barranc del Balç and about 200m W of the village of Rivert, in Pallars Jussà. To reach it, one sets out from the Mare de Déu del Castell, a small hermitage located in the upper part of the village of Rivert. One follows the path that climbs towards the W and in 60m reaches a ridge. The path is left in the direction of the gentle channel located on the left and, now without a path, one climbs up until reaching the next ridge in about 120m. The ravine ahead is the Barranc del Balç. One continues descending towards the W and towards the base of the same ravine; from a distance the mouth of the cavity will already be visible at the base of a waterfall, and in about 130m one reaches the cavity.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Shelter suspended a few metres above the lower bed of the ravine, semicircular in shape following the erosion forms of the stream. The pen, in a ruined state, occupies the central part of the cavity and had 2 entrances, one at each end, leaving the shelter divided into 3 zones: the highest in ceiling and most spacious is the one located to the S, and the one located to the N is the one with the lowest ceiling, which forces one to progress crouched.

Storia

Small cave historically known that had remained unpublished in speleological catalogues. Referenced on the ICGC map. In August 2025 members of the Centre Excursionista de Castellar del Vallès visit it and carry out the cataloguing work.
