Caratteristiche

Località

From the B-124 road from Castellar del Vallès to Sant Llorenç Savall, a few metres after km. 14, at the Revolt Rodó, a track (Camí del Dalmau) leaves to the left, climbing alongside the Riera Seca. Shortly before its confluence with the torrent del Dalmau, a track in very poor condition, almost impassable by vehicle, leaves to the left and turns back along the other side of the Riera Seca. Follow it to about 80 metres before its end, where on the left, a few metres below the track, the pit is found.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity consists of an 18-metre shaft interrupted by a narrow passage at 3 metres and later by a large block. The base of the shaft is formed by an elongated joint more than 22 metres long, in the middle of which a second vertical drop of 7 metres opens into a final chamber.

Altri dettagli

The pit is affected by a chemoclastic process due to the presence of a sandstone layer about 2 metres thick.

Storia

The pit was discovered by woodcutters and initially was a small 3-metre one where at first a tiny hole could be seen. On 30 March 1986, a group formed by J. Claverí and J. Boixader (GES-CMT) and the brothers E. and X. Badiella, after several hours of digging, managed to enter and fully explore the cavity.

At first, and due to the erroneous toponymy of the cartography of that time, they named it Avenc de la Darnà. Later and up to the present, the toponym has become Adernar and in some places we have seen the pit mentioned with this name. In reality, the correct toponym must be Aladernar, a wood or place with aladerns (Rahmnus alaternus).
