Characteristics

Location

From Camprodon we will follow the C-38 road towards Molló; after kilometre 13, we will turn right onto the GIV-5223 road towards Rocabruna and Beget.

Once we have arrived at Rocabruna, we will follow the road to Can Tadeu; from here we will follow a path heading S, which leads to coll Samola and the castle of Rocabruna. Once we have arrived at the col, where on the left there is a small rocky outcrop, we must pass it and cross the meadow until we reach the side of the white trees (birches), where we will find the trace of a path that we will follow while descending (north direction) diagonally, where we will find a signposted path that turns south (this is the return path from the north entrance of the cave). On reaching the bottom we will find a wooden electric power pole; we must follow below the power line in an E direction to the next pole, where we will find a worn path that heads south, following the Torrent; we will follow it until, as we approach the wall of the Cingle (west face), we find a junction. Here we will leave the path we had been following and which begins to descend, to take the one that climbs below the wall of the cingle in a southerly direction to reach the entrance of la Cova, which is in the same wall of the Cingle opposite the house of la Guardiola.

Description

Morphology

The entrance of 3x3 metres with a rounded section is located 2 metres above the base of the cingle; this gives access to a gallery 10 metres long, at the end of which it turns at a right angle to continue slightly ascending. This part of the cavity is quite wide at first, but gradually diminishes to emerge again onto the cingle amid a chaos of blocks through an entrance 1.5 metres in diameter.

History

Explored in 1931 by Manuel Bassa i Armengol (Centre Excursionista Catalunya). It was later visited in 1966 by members of the CEC and in 1968 by members of the GE Pedraforca, each of them carrying out the survey of the cavity.
