Characteristics

Location

The tutes de la Pólvora and del Senglar are clearly visible from the track that runs from the collet del Ras to Mas Padern. From Mas Padern we will head in search of the torrent de la Coma del Ferrer, follow the torrent downstream until we find a marker stone on the left that gives access to a concealed path. We will continue along the path following the clearest and flattest branches, until the main trace begins to fade in the very middle of a stony and sparse forest; we will continue resolutely uphill and diagonally to the right, until we reach the head of the cliff; from this spot we will see the great rock shelter of the tuta. We will look for a good scree slope that descends diagonally, protected by the forest. The traces of the path will lead us to the cavity. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

At the balma de la Pólvora, the tuta serves as the main portal. The passage oscillates between 3 metres in width and 5 metres in height, until reaching an upward step where the maximum elevation difference is attained (+9 metres), from which point the ceiling rises to about 10 metres and the floor gains width.

Speleothems

The remains of a collapsed wall make us raise our gaze and we see on the vault the beginning of a “rosary” of scallops that continue along the whole gallery.
