Spring of the résurgence du Dourgas, outlet of the limestone massif between Missègre and Alet, with a 45-metre sump and a narrow chamber.
Description
Morphology
A 4-metre step leads to the edge of a very tortuous sump 45 metres long, with a maximum depth of 4 metres, oriented approximately N 130°, with an average cross-section of 1 to 3 square metres. It opens into a narrow chamber 4 m long by 1 m.
Hydrology
Together with the neighbouring perennial springs of Théron and Biscaye, which are tapped for the water supply of Alet and partly of Limoux, the résurgence du Dourgas constitutes the outlet of the limestone massif located between Missègre and Alet (dye tracing of the sinkholes of the Guinet stream in 1964 by Verdeil).
Progression
5 metres above the water (climbing), a forced passage reaches a small upper pocket containing 4 impermeable crawls at +6.
Other details
The spring is cut along a fault separating two compartments of Devonian limestone, lower to middle to the North and middle to the South.
