Characteristics

Location

Via the road from Coll de Nargó to Isona, we will access at the height of Bóixols the track that will take us to the coll de Llivia. We will follow the track in the direction of the refugi del Boumort for approximately 5.9 metres, where on the right we will find a track with a barrier that prevents the passage of vehicles. 100 metres before, on a bend where there is a torrent we find space to leave the vehicle. It is necessary to go back up the track until reaching the flats that open onto the valley of Cabó. According to the ICC they place this point as La Creueta and the ravine by which the track climbs Coma del Pi, but they repeat this same thing in the following ravine as well as also repeating La Creueta. We think that the ravine must be that of the Gargalla. Located again on the flat X:347200; Y:4676759; Z: 1912 m (ED50), we will cross the wire fence and descend in the direction of the valley of Cabó about 15 metres of elevation change to head towards the left, after 100 metres we will reach a small col X:347183; Y:4676846; Z:1892 m (ED50), from where the entrance can be made out, at the head of the ravine of Inglada. We will continue for 55 metres along the base of the cliff and will arrive at the cave.

Description

Morphology

The entrance of 2.55 x 7.82 metres gives way to a gallery oriented towards the SW, but which immediately turns towards the W. The gallery begins with a slope of 29º that gradually softens until reaching -6 metres of depth; here begins a gentle slope climbing until reaching the end of the gallery, which maintains throughout its course regular dimensions of 5 x 6 metres. At this point it is necessary to climb a couple of metres to access a short conduit that ends in a narrow crawl, but the gallery rises to +14 metres of height. The total elevation change is 15 metres (-6/+9).

History

This cavity had been explored by J.M. Victoria in 1965 and cited in the magazine Montaña no. 100. In all later catalogues including the most current ones, this cavity is wrongly placed in the municipality of Conca de Dalt in the comarca of Pallars Jussà, instead of the municipality of Cabó in Alt Urgell, which is where it is really located.
