A cavity with 35 metres of passage in the Serra de Lleràs, with a single descending gallery about 30 metres long.

Characteristics

Location

To reach this small cavity, the vehicle must be left in the same car park as for going to the cova Cuberes. We will follow the track in the direction of the cova Cuberes; after a few metres the Barranc de les Boigues is crossed, we go up it about 200 metres until it divides in two, the left-hand one is taken in the direction of travel, one must walk about 300 metres more and about 10 metres above the thalweg and on the right according to the direction of travel, the cavity is found.

Along the whole route there is a black PVC tube that must be followed and that ends just at the last step before the graller. The path is quite difficult due to the large amount of brambles and vegetation there.

Description

Morphology

It is a single descending gallery, about 30 metres long, whose dimensions decrease as we advance.

Speleothems

Towards the end of the cavity there are corners with numerous and varied formations.

History

The first news known about the Graller de Potestats was provided by members of the GE Badalona who explored it during the 1962 campaign at Serradell. The first and only known survey of the cavity was carried out by members of the Secció d'Espeleologia Gelera (Barcelona) around 1971 and was not published until 1979.

Thomas Casajuana, in his, and possibly last speleological writing (2000), makes a brief reference to a campaign by members of the Club Muntanyenc Barcelonès (Llopis, Thomas and others) carried out in the Serradell area in 1946 and which had remained practically unpublished. Among the cavities explored he mentions the Graller de Potestats, without providing any data.
