Small pit 4 m deep and 12 m long in Castellbell i el Vilar

Characteristics

Location

From the Casino de Burés in Castellbell i El Vilar, we follow along Carrer Camí de Burés; after 260 metres, already outside the cluster of houses, on the right of the track (UTM ETRS89 coordinates 404778 – 4610149) a path sets off, and after about 10 metres on the left-hand side we see a large depression full of brambles and also rubbish; on the same side and right next to the path there is a large block of rock, and just below it and inside the depression lies the cavity; inside we also find remains of rubbish.

Description

Morphology

It consists of three cavities, although two of them are of scant importance. The third is 4 metres deep and 12 metres long. The latter consists of a small entrance pit of 3 metres that leads to a small chamber oriented NW. From the aforementioned chamber two galleries set off, in a SW direction, of short length.

History

They were made known in May 1974 to members of the SIS – CE Terrassa while making some first incursions. In May 1976 they returned to finish the study and survey work.
