Location

From the Coll de la Creu, near Lliurona, we follow the path to Espinau; on reaching the Teuleria, we take the middle path, soon passing the Pla del Perer and further on, at the height of the font de l'Arç, we find a track that comes in from the right. At this point we can leave the vehicle, since about 150 metres further on, on the left, a path sets off that climbs through the woods to the Tossa d'Espinau. The cavities are at the foot of the N slope of the summit of the Tossa d'Espinau, at the upper end of the pine and oak woods that were affected by a fire in 1984. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

It is a cavity structured along a SO-NE trending joint, with three entrances (Forat no. 1 and no. 3; although it forms part of the system, Forat no. 2 has an impenetrable passage that prevents physical connection). The largest entrance is no. 1, where with a safety rope one can descend to -22 metres, its maximum depth. A tree trunk helps in accessing the inner chambers, formed between unstable blocks in the same joint.

Progression

Gaining access to the gallery found at -5 metres, it connects with entrance number 3 without any problem.

History

Explored by the GEB on 17 April 1993, they were accompanied by Mr. Wolf and his son Franz, residents of Espinau who showed them the cavity. The fact of finding a “spit” in it indicates that the cavity had already been explored previously.
