Characteristics

Location

By the road from Balaguer to Àger, on reaching Vilamajor we will turn left and then immediately take the right-hand turn that leads to the Masos de Millà; after about 700 metres one must turn left onto the track of the Mas de la Batistilla. Before reaching it, we will follow the right-hand track towards the upper fields; on arriving at the end one must climb up the successive terraces towards a clearly visible crag. The cavity is located a few metres from it.

Description

Morphology

An 8-metre pit places us at the base of a joint that descends in a slope and which, after two short steps, places us at -23 metres, the point of maximum depth of the cavity.

History

Although it was known since ancient times by the inhabitants of the area, the first known speleological exploration was carried out by the GE Badalona on 9 April 1974.

Practically forgotten, in June 2011 three cavers (GEB; GEP; SIE), accompanied by Antoni Corsà, from Tartareu, reached the entrance of a pit they thought was previously unrecorded and soon realised that it is the same pit that had been published by our colleague Paco Miret (GEB) more than 35 years earlier.

It is not very clear whether the correct name is Florés (as it appears in the original document), Flores or Forat de Forés (as it appears in the original published survey).
