Characteristics

Location

From Bagà we will follow the B-4024 road towards Coll de Pal. Between kilometres 16 and 17 we will find the Refugi de Coll de Pal on the right; 125 metres before reaching it, we will find a track on the left of the road that leads to the “collada de la Bòfia” and the “els Orris” viewpoint. This track must be taken and shortly after its start, above it and on the right, a limestone cairn can be seen, which is where the cave is located.

Description

Morphology

It consists of an entrance gallery that gradually narrows and, after two right-angle turns, connects with a long, narrow passage, slightly ascending, which leads to the final chamber of the cave, a somewhat wider gallery that remains blocked by a stalagmitic flow at its S end, and by the narrowness of the joint, together with the sediments and stones in the N sector.

Speleothems

The final chamber remains blocked by a stalagmitic flow at its S end.

Hydrology

In the N sector, a point where there are also a couple of water pools on the floor.

History

The first news we have of the exploration of the cavity is that carried out by the ERE of the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya on 17 August 1969. In some publications the survey by R. Sitja appears, erroneously dated 1968; in the original survey the already mentioned date of 17 August 1969 is recorded. Also in some publications it is erroneously located in the municipality of Bagà, when it is in Guardiola de Berguedà.
