Characteristics

Location

In the Montsec de Rubies (Gavet de la Conca). From the Hostal Roig, if we head towards the Pas Nou we will find a track on the right which climbs towards the upper part of the Montsec de Rubies and the Portella Blanca; at the start one passes by some ruined corrals that remain on the left and soon we find a bend to the right; on the straight stretch that follows we will find the cavity on the right-hand edge of the track.

Description

Morphology

It is a pit 5 metres deep. In 1979 a depth of 5 metres was reached, with the possibility of digging out the bottom since there appeared to be a continuation. At present (2010) the sediments washed down from the track have filled the cavity and do not even allow one to reach -5 metres.

Hydrology

It is an active sinkhole that collects the waters of a stream that was decapitated when the track was made.

History

Explored by GEFOMA in the autumn of 1976.
