Description
Morphology
The cave mouth is large (15m wide by 4m high) and hangs on the wall of a cliff, at a height of 30m from the base of the wall. The cave has a linear route of 20m and is a collapse. The entire floor of it is slabs that have fallen from the ceiling of the cavity.
Speleothems
At the back of the cave we can find a couple of formations.
Progression
To access it there is a fairly vertical inclined wall that can be climbed with care. There are very good holds and trees and shrubs to grab onto. One can slip under the blocks; from the cave mouth one can almost reach the back of it under the slabs. To descend the wall that we initially climbed, one can downclimb with care, although it is somewhat exposed. It is recommended to bring some rope to descend using naturals.
History
Known forever by the people of Mas de Barberans, but unexplored due to its difficult access. In the speleological catalogue found in the blogs of the clubs of the area (Espeleo Club Tortosa, UEC Tortosa and Grup d'Espeleologia Dinàmics) it is marked as cavity no. 252: Cova del Barranc de Crots, but without any type of information, since they only glimpsed it and marked it in the catalogue, according to veteran voices who prepared it.
A few days after posting the record on Espeleoindex, Rafa Genovés (GE Dinàmics) informs us that the correct name of the cavity is: Forat de la Faixa de Roques Roges. The toponymy of the ICGC map indicates Faixa de Roca Roja, which is the name that has been incorporated into the catalogue, and Cova del Barranc dels Clots as a synonym (not Crots as had first been said).
