Characteristics

Location

At the bottom of the Troneda (or Tronera?), where the two streams that form its headwaters meet, the track continues through the middle of the thalweg; on the left a dry-stone hut in fairly good condition can be seen, which is not the one we are looking for. Barely 200 metres before reaching the corral de la Troneda, about 15 metres above its left slope, the remains of an old stone hut can be seen. A few metres to the NW of it lies the pit.

Description

Morphology

Through a small entrance one enters a 14.5 metre shaft that reaches a pile of blocks cemented by lithogenesis. Here a short gallery begins in a W direction with a slight slope in the central zone. At the W end, the roof rises into a narrow chimney.

Speleothems

The parietal flowstone along the shaft is abundant.

Hydrology

Its origin seems linked to the seepage supplied by the torrent when its level was higher and which acted upon two continuity solutions that later joined.

History

Located by Rafael Amat i Carreras on 14 August 1923, before the exploration of the avenc del Mas Traval and, although he does not explore it, he mentions it in his work. It is not until around the early 1980s that a group of friends from Begues, led by Carles Ortiz and the embryo of what in the course of years would become the Begues Espeleo Club, rediscover and explore it. From a much later conversation with Carles himself, he tells us of the existence and situation of the pit, which in December 1990 a small team from SIE – CE Àliga explores and surveys.
