Location

By the road that climbs from Begues to the “Punt Sud” power plant located at Pla de Basses Roses, once we are level with Pla del Cirerer a path comes out on the right that goes towards Pla d'Ardenya; at the point where the path passes underneath and next to an electricity pylon, already at Pla de Sot d'Óssos, we must take a trail on the left that in a few metres will lead us to a large doline in the very middle of which is the avenc Gran de les Alzines; the Esquerda Petita de les Alzines is found to the right of the trail just as we begin to enter the doline.

Description

Morphology

The entrance begins in the middle of a flat slab where there are a couple of spits; the entrance, 1.60X1 metre, leads to a shaft that currently reaches 3 metres; at the bottom a descending crawlway might be feasible to continue by means of digging out.

This cavity in its day reached –7.5 metres deep. This depth has varied circumstantially because from time to time there is someone who amuses themselves digging it out; later the side walls collapse and the bottom fills up again.

History

Small cavity explored for the first time by the SIEP in 1962 under the name "Esquerda petita de les Alzines".

In 2014, the GEB surveyed it again, publishing it on the blog (cavitats de catalunya.com.es) under the erroneous name avenc Petit de les Alzines.
